Chinese Alligator is the unique reptile of China. They live in the region of Yangzi for more than 0.2 billion years and have a more longer history than human being. The ancestor of Chinese Alligator emerged in Mesozoic trial, and Mesozoic was the flourishing time for reptile; at that time reptile was the master of the earth. In the Cenozoic 70 millions years ago, most reptiles such as dinosaur were extinct, while Chinese Alligator continued experiencing the ruin of reptile and the rising of mammal with other more than 20 kinds of crocodiles, they are the survivals.
Chinese Alligator was anciently called Tuo, and was called locally ˇ°local dragonˇ± and ˇ° zhu Po dragonˇ±. Chinese Alligator lives in the fresh water, originally distributed in the middle and down parts of Yangzi River. About 6 or 7 thousand years ago, Chinese Alligator had ever emerged in Yu Yao of Zhe Jiang province, until Tang dynasty, it spread into Zhe Jiang, Jiang Xi, Hu Nan, Jiang Su, An Hui, and Hu Bei, at that time, it distributed many areas and had a big quantity. In ancient time, people used the skin to make drum. With the economic development of YangZi region and the increasing of population, Chinese Alligator decreased to be one kind of endangered wild animal.
There are 34 crocodiles in our park at present. At first sight, his ugly and fierce looking will frighten you. In SWAP, we made one man-made island with bamboos, wild trees, and water grass to create one better natural zoology environment. In this island, quiet crocodile, swimming crocodile, crocodile having sunshine, flourishing plants and so on compose one real visiting photo.
