Mandrillus belong to Cercopithecidae of primates of Mammalia, and mainly live in Guinea and Congo of Africa. Mandrillus has its name because of the colorful face. The male one has a strong body and the weight is about 100 kg. Its teeth are as strong as the teeth of lion or tiger. They always live in groups. They live on land and do not like climbing, but they sleep in the tree in the night. Their food are mainly fruit, nut, plant and other small animals. They are irascible, specially the male, and good at fighting with enemy. The life is about 20 years. They are international endangered and protected species in annex 1.
Mandrillus house was built on September 2002, there is not only grass land to run, but also the clean and clear exhibit hall to rest. Especially in these 2 years, several Mandrilluses were reproduced; the coming of small Mandrilluses increase the interesting of visiting. Now there are 3 male adult Mandrilluses and 3 female adult Mandrillus, and 2 small Mandrilluses were born respectively in September and December of 2002.
